Edible Cocktail

So, I presented you all with this contest to come up with the best & most original holiday cocktail recipe in our ‘Holiday Spirit’ Contest and the best idea I’ve gotten so far is a poor variation of Egg Nog!!!

That in mind I’ve chosen to give you a little help and steer you in the right direction.  Check out this recipe I found today, courtesy of Tastingtable.com:

Pumpkin Pie Jell-O Shots

Makes 8 pies
8 Keebler mini graham-cracker piecrusts
1 envelope Knox gelatin
1/3 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1/2 cup vodka
1/2 tablespoon cold heavy cream
Fresh whipped cream, for serving

1. Arrange the piecrusts on a baking sheet. Place 1 cup cold water in the top of a double boiler and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Let stand for three minutes.
2. Heat the gelatin mixture over a gentle simmer until the granules have dissolved. Add the pumpkin, sugar and spices and heat, stirring occasionally, until the pumpkin and sugar are completely melted. Remove from heat and cool for 30 minutes.
3. In a medium bowl, combine the vodka with 1/4 cup cold water and the heavy cream. Whisk in the pumpkin mixture and immediately divide it among the piecrusts. Chill until firm, at least 4 hours. Slice the pies into wedges, if desired, top with whipped cream and serve.

And The Winner Is…

He would like to remain anonymous… So I won’t reveal his name, but here is his story:

“This was a few years ago.  I had graduated, was unemployed, and spent many a weekend visiting my alumnus (Penn State).  Obviously this meant LOTS of drinking and debauchery.  This happened every weekend, but one PARTICULAR weekend sticks out…

I had come up on a Thursday for a long weekend… Well mainly because Thursday night was Long Island Ice Tea night ($2 teas) for 2 hours at this place called Cafe 210.  3 of these things and you were feeling pretty good… I had 5!  The special ended at 8 PM and I was already borderlined blackout.  From there we went to another bar, all of which is a blur, but according to the people I was with I was far from good shape.

Now you see, I had this problem in college.  If I got separated from the group post blackout something bad always happened.  From hooking up with fat chicks to waking up in random stairwells.  This time however it was far worse…

Ode to Embarrassment

Drink a lot? (If you read this site you probably do)

Wake up in unknown places with strange people next to you?

Do people come up to you the next day and say “duuuuuuuuuuude I can’t believe you did that last night!” While you just sit there and scratch your head?

If you answered yes to any of the above than share a little anecdote with us here!  Just post a comment or e-mail us at Sizzup@sizzup.com.  Winner will get their choice or Hat/Shirt/Stein from our Sizzup Store.

Contest Runs from not until Friday October 10th so if you don’t have good story yet that gives you plenty of time to drink up/black out/and “stumble” upon some good material.

And The Winner Is…

First of all we would like to thank you for taking part in our FIRST monthly contest of many to come.  We received a lot of interesting drink submissions so before we go ahead and announce the winner I’m going to go through the WORST tasting combinations submitted to us (YES we did try them ALL, was one drunken weekend):

3 Worst

I call this one the “Rim Job” – Cheese Whiz around the rim of a can of beer… No Bueno. Sorry Gretchen, I’m sure some love it.

The “Michelada”Pour your beer into a glass filled with ice and add the juice of one small lemon. Add a dash of soy, Tabasco and Worcestershire. Add a pinch of salt and pepper. For some, a true Mexican Michelada is not complete without a shot of Tequila mixed in.  Do I need to explain why I did NOT like this drink???
