The Electronic Cigarette

Yet another solution exists for you smoker’s out there who are sick of anti-smoking laws.  Next time you’re out at a bar and thinking about making the trip outside in the freezing winter temperatures to get your fix, consider the E-Cigarette.

This little interesting device is a smokeless nicotine delivery system.  It works by inserting a nicotine cartridge in the bottom which releases tiny droplets of nicotine when it senses the user is inhaling.  This is also mixed with water vapor inside the nebulizer to create somewhat of “smoke,” which the users inhales and exhales.  It also has an orange LED light at the end which lights up as the user inhales to appear as if they were smoking.  Since there is no combustion or tobacco involved, it is a much safer alternative to regular cigarettes and also is not subject to anti-smoking laws.  I imagine you’d get a few complaints from patrons if you try to use it at the bar due to how real it looks, but theres no second hand smoke!  I think it’ll only be a matter of time before we see these popping up in our local pubs.  They are a little pricey at this point as well, running from $100-$150 but the nicotine cartridges are replaceable and come in a variety of nicotine concentrations and flavors.  Right now it is not considered a smoking cessation aid, however it could certainly be used as one by stepping down the strength of nicotine (it also comes in zero nicotine!).

Don’t Drink & Dial

Its 2 AM on a Friday night.  Your speech is slurred, the room is spinning, the bar is closing, and you are about to go home drunk and ALONE when a “bright” idea pops into your head… You want to call your ex-gf to tell her how much you miss her (maybe to tell her how big a bitch she is), or maybe its the fat girl you met last weekend for a “nightcap”, or even your boss to tell him how big of an asshole he is.Unfortunately too many of us are familiar with these scenarios as they have become incredibly common since the invention of the cell phone.  If only there was away to prevent all this from happening…?

Well soon there might be a way… Korean cell phone manufacturer LG Electronics, according to ABC News, has gone a step further with the party gimmicks. LG’s LP4100 brand, to be released in the U.S. later this year, not only makes calls, it can stop them when you need it to most! (Source: ABC)

The LP4100 has a built-in breathalyzer that, when blown into by an intoxicated party goer, gives a warning and displays a fun little animation of a car swerving on a road and crashing into traffic cones (Simple for the drunk to understand… I hope).

The phone can be programmed to block selected numbers in the address book – bosses, moms, exes -if the breath analyzer records a blood-alcohol concentration over 0.08.

It’s already a hit in Korea, where more than 200,000 of LG’s Breathalyzer-type phones have been sold.

Top Drinking Gifts

A few weeks ago, the popular men’s magazine Esquire released the top 24 drinking gifts.  Although it’s early, I’m sure that some of you have birthdays coming up, or if you’re crazy, maybe you do some of your Christmas shopping early.  Either way, any guy would love to get any of these gifts on the list.  My mom’s birthday is coming up, I’m going to get her the USB beverage chiller.  Although she doesn’t drink or use a computer, I think she’ll appreciate this genius idea cause hey, its cool.  Here’s our favorites from the list…

USB beverage chiller:  For those of you lucky enough to work from home, I can’t imagine a better invention.

4 Copas Tequila: The world’s finest organic tequila…need I say more?

Parker Beam 27 year old whiskey:  At $200 a bottle, you better really love the person you buy this for…or at least join them drinking it.
