Oh ‘Danny Boy’

St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner and local Irish pubs all over the city are getting ready for the big event.  Ordering a few more pallets of Guinness, a couple more handles of Irish Whiskey, oh and banning the popular Irish Song ‘Danny Boy’ from being sung on the premises.

Thats right, you read correctly.  Foley’s Pub on 34th and 5th in Manhattan has chosen one unorthodox way of getting ready for the big event.  “It’s overplayed, it’s been ranked among the 25 most depressing songs of all time and it’s more appropriate for a funeral than for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration,” said owner Shaun Clancy.  Shaun has not only banned it for the big day, but for the entire month of March!  (CLICK HERE FOR MORE)

Now I can’t say I disagree with his decision.  The song is overplayed and is certainly depressing.  I know when I’m drinking the last thing I want to hear is something that will get me down.  Don’t you agree?
