Richie SamboraBon Jovi lead guitarist Richie Sambora could face child endangerment charges, after he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving while he had two minors in the car, police said.

Sambora, 48, was arrested after an officer noticed his black Hummer weaving in traffic lanes, Laguna Beach, USA, police Sergeant Jason Kravetz said.

Sambora was given a roadside sobriety test and arrested without incident.

He was booked at the Laguna Beach jail, where he gave a blood sample and was released at 4am, Kravetz said.

“He was very co-operative with all the staff,” Kravetz said.

Three female passengers, including two minors, were in the car with Sambora.

The adult woman took custody of the two minors and the car after Sambora’s arrest, he said.

Kravetz declined to release their names, but said they were not celebrities.

Police will consider filing child endangerment charges against Sambora if his blood-alcohol level comes back above the legal limit of .08, Kravetz said.

Sambora was released from jail in the early hours of today and must appear in court in Newport Beach on May 7 on one misdemeanour count of driving under the influence, Kravetz said.

Blood test results, which could show Sambora’s level of intoxication, will take about a week to come back.

Ken Sunshine, a spokesman for Bon Jovi, had no comment.

Sambora is a founding member of Bon Jovi, famous for hits such as Livin’ on A Prayer and Blaze of Glory.

The group’s last album, released last year, was called Lost Highway.
