‘Black Wednesday’

posted in Useful Info |

What is the biggest party night of the year?Halloween? Christmas Eve? New Years Eve? How about none of the above…

Its “Thanksgiving Eve”.

Somehow this family-themed holiday became a magnet for club-nights. Police Checkpoints are plentiful. Hangovers are certain. A little strange considering Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks, family gatherings, stuffing our stomachs full of turkey, and of course watching football.

So, for those of you who wish to partake in this year’s eve festivities, here are some options:

New York City

Amalia – 204 West 55th St.

General admission $30, live DJ, VIP Table Service for 12 $1500 includes 3 bottles of Grey Goose, mixers, no wait at the door.

Touch NYC – General admission $40, live DJ, doors open at 10 PM.

Bar 13 – 35 E 13th St, Union Square, $20 General Admission includes open bar from 9-10PM, 2 for 1 drinks from 10-11PM, Free Dinner Buffet from 9-10PM.

Whiskey Sky – 644 N. Lakeshore Dr, $20-$30, Includes appetizers, a raffle, vino and scotch samplings, a bloody mary bar and Skyy martinis.

Black Wednesday Pilgrimage – Start at Lotties and board three “Mayflower” trolleys for a fun-filled night when participants are encouraged to play the role of pilgrim by wearing their special T-shirts. The pub crawl begins at 7pm and includes stops at three hot nightlife “ports” with plenty of watering holes: Lincoln/Halsted/Fullerton, Belmont/Lincoln/Ashland and finally Division/Damen. Itineraries and details about drink deals provided. Return to Lotties for a late-night feast of turkey legs and other Thanksgiving treats. (Tickets are limited).

The Pour House – Celebrate the holidays with $2 Bud Lights, $3 Wild Turkey and Washington Apple shots and $3 vodka and cranberries. One lucky patron will be chosen for a free happy hour.

Brownie’s 38th Street – Brownie’s serves up University City $2 Bud and Bud Light bottles, $2 domestic drafts, and $2 specialty shots to celebrate the holiday and the last stretch of the semester. Split Decision rocks the bar on this special occasion.

Whiskey Dix – This year Dix is holding a triple-threat Thanksgiving Eve party. The line-up includes live music from Octane, autograph signings from HIM, and a filming for MTV’s “Viva la Bam.”

Now I know this only covers 3 major US cities, so if you have your own events from around the rest of the country, or even some events I may have missed in the cities above, please share.
