Welcome to another edition of “Kimberly’s Alcohol Creations”. Today, I’m bringing you a decadent, but easy to prepare breakfast or brunch, served with nothing other than CHAMPAGNE!

Well, Champagne is great for lunch and dinner, as well as mixed with fabulous juices for breakfast…

…But why not on it’s own with breakfast?

Here’s yet another recipe that champagne goes well with, but for Breaky!

Smoked Salmon with Chive Omelette

This is marvelous for special occassions like New Year’s, Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Easter morning, but then again, everyday is special! Enjoy this fabulous recipe with the champagne of your choice.

It’s Birchwood Estate Wines‘ 2007 Gewurztraminer/Riesling, and it’s well worth finding!

* Trivia: Did you know that Gewruztraminer is a German word for herbs of the earth? Yup, it is…My mom’s German…LOL

I LOVE ICEWINE!

That’s right! I do…it’s one of the most amazing beverages you could ever partake in imbibing! LOL

For New Year’s we always have champagne, but we always have an icewine for dessert too that night!

In fact, we try to have icewine for every occasion here in the Niagara Region!

This New Year’s we had the Lakeview Cellars 2007 Vidal Icewine.

It’s a very sweet, white dessert wine and it is spectacular, to say the least!

Before I had even woken up, he had made his trip to the grocery store and purchased all of his necessities for making my mother and me a spectacular brunch meal.

He made us smoked salmon and chive omelets, but snazzed it up a few more notches with sparkling wine…

He brought home a really delicious sparkling wine, not champagne - as only sparkling wine from Champagne, France may be actually labelled “champagne” - everything else is sparkling wine.

It was a 2006 Jackson-Triggs Proprietors’ Reserve Sparkling Wine - Méthode Cuve Close from right here in our Niagara Region - one of the most amazing wine regions on the planet!

My hubby and I just bought a new vehicle this week, and decided to buy a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine, eat some pizza and watch a movie on the DVD player with our blankets and sleeping bags inside of the SUV! (We’re cheesy like that! LOL)

So, as you probably know, sparkling wine is the same thing as champagne, except it’s not made in Champagne, France! A bubbly wine can only be termed champagne if it’s actually made there!

We chose a neat sparkling wine we saw called “Pink” by Yellowglen and it’s from South Eastern Australia, currently sold by Foster’s Group.

Well, that got us hook, line and sinker because I used to live in Australia, and secondly, we had never had a sparkling wine from Aussieland before.

The bottle is really modern and cool, looking black with hot pink writing.

My hubby and I tried something different for a change…

We saw a bottle of Glühwein at Central Market in Dallas, Texas and decided to give it a try with a meal we just picked up that had a Thanksgiving twist.

It’s a product of Germany made by Sternthaler; hence, the name, “Nürnberger Christkindles Glühwein”.

Now, typically, glühwein is a mulled wine made of red grapes wine infused with spices reminiscent of the Holiday season, such as cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom pods, cloves, citrus and honey, and is drunk warm. Glühwein translated actually means glowing with heat (not with light).

It’s especially suitable for after a full day of skiing, or cutting firewood in the snow!

However, nowadays, it’s not drank often, except around the Holidays.

In Germany, sometimes the grape wine is substituted with blueberry or cherry wine instead, then infused with the spices. Many different European countries have a version of this type of wine, maybe with slightly different flavorings or preparations.

Who else other than an Australian-themed bar in Acton, London, would take such a decision and move forward with what could be the start of an interesting ‘drinking’ era. One thing you could say about British people is that they surely know how to drink. A simple combo with our famous Australian friends and the party is on! Although, they tell us all measures are taken, and strict rules apply, we think the result will be somehow the same. Go to work, go to the pub, drink, drink, drink and then ask for directions on how to get back to your own place! For some of us, that’s surely the end of a ‘beautiful’ night, and the start of a horrific morning to work.

What’s even funnier is that the Ealing council has ruled that the Australian-themed bar in Acton is not encouraging irresponsible drinking with the cut-price deal. Yeah, right!!
