As we approach one of my favorite drinking holidays, (Cinco de Mayo for those of you who werent aware that it is Monday) I am digging up some of my favorite recipes for a little Saturday celebration!
Here is a great twist on Margaritas from Rachel Ray:
1 lime, juiced, plus 2 lime slices, for garnish
2 scoops lemon sorbet
4 scoops lime sherbet
4 shots tequila
1/2 shot Triple Sec or other orange liqueur
Place all ingredients in blender and process on high. Pour into glasses and garnish with a round slice of lime.

It is not a surprise that most of us seem to be enjoying a Red Bull vodka or a Jagerbomb. However, doctors seem to have a completely different opinion. They are mostly concerned about the mix rather than the alcohol itself.
Unless you don’t follow what’s going on out there, you must have seen at least one advertisement for energy drinks. They typically contain high doses of caffeine, guarana, taurine, ginseng and various sugars, mainly to give you a boost to do whatever it is you do best. Guarana is a climbing plant that produces a bean that holds three times the amount of caffeine as a coffee bean. Taurine is an organic acid that is the major ingredient in bile, a greenish fluid secreted by the liver to aid in digestion.
It is true that almost every bar now offers energy drinks to mix with alcohol. Usually, Red Bull and vodka, some martinis, Jagerbombs, Turkeybombs, Vegasbombs and any other bomb you can think of use energy drinks as a base. Basically, you are mixing a stimulant (energy drink) with a depressant (alcohol) and you are hoping for a favorable physiological response. Hmm… Read the rest of this entry »

Check this out: carbonated vodka!!
A new super-carbonated and fizzy shot of vodka called Orloff Gas, which is an extension of the Orloff vodka family being pushed by Pernod Ricard Brasil (the same group that has Jameson, Chivas and Courvoisier). However for you serious drinkers out there, it is only 15% alcohol. Bottoms up!

Unbelievable what some people can come up with! A new energy drink is causing a lot of controversy, and the name alone is sure to grab anyone’s attention.
It’s called ‘I Love Blow’, named after the well-known street name for cocaine. The obvious question here - is this something that should be banned, or is it simply something to laugh about? Read the rest of this entry »

According to Forbes, beer is good for your brain:
A 2006 report published in a journal of the American Heart Association showed that moderate drinking may be associated with better cognitive function in women. Likewise, a 2003 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association said that adults over 65 who consume between one and six alcoholic beverages each week have a lower risk of dementia than non-drinkers and heavier drinkers.
So lets go out tonight and knock a few back, you know we’re promoting brain health!

There are still a few days left of Passover… I’m sure you’re all craving some leavened bread by now, as am I!
Here is a very cool Passover Cocktail I found. maybe this can help you forget a few of those breadless aching hours!
Its called Martin’s Blackhawk… The recipe is actually confidential as you can see by looking at the site. Hell it doesn’t even tell you how to buy it?! Thats my next task… If any of you beat me to it please comment and let me know where it can be found (I will comment myself when I find it). I need to try this.

So it’s time to face the facts, some of us aren’t in college anymore, and jello shots are not always the most proper beverage for entertaining (don’t get me wrong there is a time and place for everything). Well here we go, jello shots are cool and sophisticated now, thanks to our friends at DivineCaroline.com.
